Comic Book Saturday
Tumblr media
Other than this picture book being a little too dark for really little kids, it’s just amazingly awesome. It’s also not quite the Little Red Riding Hood story either. It’s about the wolf, a young one, who is taking a journey of his own, to bring his grandmother a rabbit. A young girl offers to ‘help’ him, but, well… she doesn’t turn out to be too helpful at all.
The story was cute and cool, but, oh my, the art was just beautifully amazing. Totally amazing. So beautiful.

Bergères Guerrières Fanart Contest
The results are just in and unfortunately, my piece wasn’t a winner. Congratulations to the winners. This is what I imagined to be Molly, the main character, here as baby with her family enjoying a quiet picnic before war drove them apart.
It’s from a comic called Bergères Guerrières, by the very talented Amélie Fléchais, @ssoja. I don’t believe it’s been translated yet but hopefully they will! The last book has been selected at the Angoulême Comics Festival this year.

The Little Red Wolf Is a Fairy-Tale Treat for the Eyes
What if Little Red Riding Hood were a wolf instead? This gorgeous picture book imagines it.
Gorgeously illustrated, The Little Red Wolf by Amelie Fléchais is a fun subversion of the well-known Little Red Riding Hood story. It follows the familiar idea of a child in a red cloak venturing into a deep, dark forest—but in this tale, it’s not a young child but a small wolf who grips a covered basket in hand (paw) while they make their way to their grandparent’s house to deliver a tasty…
